Sydney spent an entire career as a software engineer and marketing director while training and competing with her own dogs in obedience, rally and agility. Training (whether it’s tricks, sports or fitness) is one way that Sydney and her dogs enjoy spending time together; learning is so much fun that the dogs demand more training/play time.
Clicker training became a primary interest when Sydney saw how it could enable a dog to learn quickly, volunteer new behaviors, maintain an interest in training and have fun learning. Through this transition, she became fascinated with the process of how dogs learn. That passion has become a new career as a dog trainer helping others unlock the world of learning for their dogs. Sydney’s dog training philosophy is based on two-way communication–training requires as much listening and observing as it does talking and doing. When you’re listening, your dog will tell you a lot.
Sydney lives in Flower Mound with her three Shelties: Roxie, Cherokee and Apache. She holds a BA in computer science and a BS in chemistry from the University of Texas and an MBA from the University of Dallas.
